Petitions and Positions

The two BIG THINGS on our agenda this week are participating in the Protect Our Jobs campaign and getting nominations for open PEA Board seats.

On Friday, April 20, PEA members received petitions to circulate. These are due back in just one week — April 27th. Let’s all do what we are able to get the constitutional amendment on November’s ballot.

On May 17th, the general membership of the PEA will meet in the middle school library. At this meeting, elections for 2012-2013 officers will take place. WE REALLY NEED NOMINATIONS for the following seats:
President (one-year term)
Vice-President (one-year term)
Secretary (two-year term)
KCEA (county coordinating council) rep (one-year term)
MEA/NEA rep (two-year term)

If you are interested in running for one of these positions, please contact Tim S. to be placed on the ballot.

The May 17th meeting will also feature updates on the petition drive, important insurance information, summer bargaining updates, recognitions, and DOOR PRIZES! Simply show up to have your name placed in a drawing for fabulous prizes (or at least decent ones).

The more of us who participate, the more effective our association is for its members and for the students of the district.
